Woven wood shades

Close-up of a woven natural fibre panel

Natural material. Real character.

Woven shades are crafted from natural materials, bamboo, grasses, reeds, jute and other plant-based fibers, woven into flat panels.

The material itself is the point. The irregular weave, the natural variation in tone across the panel, and the soft way light filters through the gaps create an effect that fabric and synthetic options do not replicate.

Choosing your
natural material

Woven wood shades are inherently light filtering. The gaps in the weave let diffused natural light pass through while the shade is lowered, giving the room a warm ambient glow rather than blocking the window entirely. The openness factor varies across weave styles, from open constructions that let in significant light to tighter weaves that provide more diffusion.

Liners and
edge binding

For rooms that need more privacy or light blockage, a lining can be added to the back of the woven panel. A privacy lining softens the silhouette from outside without altering the face of the shade. A room darkening or blackout lining significantly reduces light transmission while keeping the natural material look on the inside. Edge binding is sewn along the sides of the shade and valance for a finished look, and is required on select patterns.

Waterfall and
valance styles

Waterfall shades fall directly off the front of the headrail. The valance style drops from the headrail in front of the shade. Returns create a clean corner and hide componentry, which makes them ideal for outside mounted shades.

Controls

Woven wood shades span roll-up and fold configurations. When fully raised they roll or cascade into a custom headrail for clean lines. Cord lift and cordless lift are both available, and motorized woven shades run on our Motion Blinds program, bringing app control and smart home integration to a product traditionally operated by hand.
